what is maa (after izaa) doing in this sentence. it can’t be a negation right?
Great question! Sometimes, some Huruf occur as ‘zaida’ or ‘extra’ in Arabic, which means they have no effect on the meaning of the sentence. Maa is one such Harf here. If you want to read up on this, I suggest this book: (الأدب العربي الأصيل: حضارة قديمة حديثة : أبيات و بصمات) (Page 64)
