WARAQAT

"If Allah intends goodness for someone, he gives him understanding of the religion." [Al-Bukhari]

Usūl al-Fiqh or the Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence is the science dealing with the rules and etiquettes of interpreting legal texts and arriving at legal rulings.

This science is defined as “knowledge of the general evidences of fiqh, how to use them, and the conditions for the person using them.” — See Sheikh Musa Furber, Sharḥ al-Waraqāt

As you can assume, this science is of paramount importance to aspiring students of fiqh, as understanding and adhering to these rules is critical, so as to not deviate from the established method of our scholars and fuqahā when deriving rulings.

Al-Waraqāt by Imam al-Juwaynī is one of the first texts taught to beginners in the science of Islamic Jurisprudence. It deals with the basic definitions and rules of the science and provides a foundation for the beginner.

If you are an aspiring student of knowledge, do not think twice about joining this course as it will be — inshaAllah — extremely beneficial for you.

In this short course of 4 months, inshaAllah, we will learn this book with a basic commentary in English.

Alhamdulillah, frequent repetition of material, giving many clear examples, homework and regular review have all been very supportive, along with a good-natured willingness to explain things in different ways.
